OUR FIRST BLACK BELTS

Two members of Whitchurch and Malpas Tae Kwon Do School are celebrating just passing their first degree black belts.  Oryan Lightning and Billy Chandler who have both been training for over four years, became the first students from Whitchurch and Malpas Tae Kwon Do School to achieve black belt.

The students travelled to Bristol to take their grading in front of a panel of five eighth-degree Tae Kwon Do Masters at the headquarters of the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain.  In order for them to gain their black belts the students had to perform movements from the martial art’s training syllabus including drill work, patterns, set sparring and free sparring against other opponents.  They also had to partake in a verbal exam displaying their knowledge of Tae kwon do history and Korean language.

Black Belts

Instructor Peter Rudolf said “Once again students from our schools have shown how high the standard is from this area and what can be achieved by dedication and hard work.  I am very proud of their achievement and it is fantastic to have our first black belt students.”

“It shows that through hard work and commitment people of all ages and abilities can enjoy what Tae Kwon Do has to offer and can go on to obtain black belt status.”
