NORTH MIDLANDS CHAMPIONSHIPS

This year the North Midlands Championships saw a change of venue, returning to the Moorways Leisure Centre in Derby.

We sent five competitors, Sarah Chandler, Irene Eagleton, Oryan Lightning, Steve Lovatt and Helen Morris.

Helen, Irene, and Sarah all came back with medals. Irene and Sarah both won bronze medals in their respective sparring divisions. Helen won a bronze medal in the patterns competition, but not satisfied with that went on to win a gold medal in sparring.

Oryan and Steve unfortunately were unsuccessful this time round. Steve was particularly unlucky to come up against the eventual winner in the first round, of his first ever competition. That's just the look of the draw and hopefully won't put him off competing in the future!

Congratulations and well done to all of those who went to represent our school, we are proud of you all. And a special well done to Helen our new North Midlands Champion.
