BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
|
The Tae
Kwon Do Association of Great Britain held the British Championships at the
Sky Dome in Coventry last Sunday 26th November. Whitchurch, Malpas and
Oswestry Tae Kwon Do School sent along a contingent of representatives. The
British Championships is one of the largest competitions in Europe with
representatives coming from places as far a field as France, Holland and
Poland. There were over a thousand competitors taking part in the various
divisions, the competition started at 9:30 and continued to about 8:30 in
the evening! Whitchurch, Malpas and Oswestry Tae Kwon Do School had representatives in the boys yellow belt division, Oryan Lightning, the men’s yellow belt, Arnold Smith and Rick Bocking and the executive ladies green belt division, Irene Eagleton. For most of the students it was their first competition, Irene Eagleton being one of them, but she did not let that trouble her as she managed to secure second place in the Executive Ladies Green Belt Division. Assistant Instructor Carl Rudolf competed in the cadet male black belt heavy weight division and was placed third. Instructor Peter Rudolf said that it is a huge achievement just to enter a competition of this size, and to have a student come back with a second place trophy was just amazing. It makes me very proud to see our students competing at this level. Congratulations to all of the students that took part. I am hoping that we can build on this success in future competitions. |
