FEBRUARY NEWS

SOUTH MIDLANDS CHAMPIONSHIPS On Sunday 5th February Carl Rudolf  2nd Dan and Rebecca Rudolf 1st Dan, both attended the South Midlands Championships at Hereford Leisure Centre. Carl competed in the Men's Heavy weight, Black Belt sparring.  As there was no Cadet division at this competition this was Carl's first event in an Adult category!  Unfortunately Carl didn't manage to bring a medal home this time but he said it was a good experience to be in the top category, with some very experienced fighters. Rebecca fared better managing to secure a bronze medal in the girls middle weight, black belt division.  She lost out in the semi final to the eventual silver medal winner. Congratulations to both Carl and Rebecca, for their great performances.

WHITCHURCH & OSWESTRY FIRST GRADING SUCCESS

Twelve students from Whitchurch and Oswestry Tae Kwon Do, travelled to Helsby on Tuesday 7th February to be the first students from the school to take part in a grading examination.  For all but one it was their first ever grading. The group consisted of an 8th Kup yellow belt  and eleven 10th Kup white belt and students.

The Grading Examiner and North Midlands Area coordinator was Mr Brian Towndrow 6th Degree black belt.   All of the students passed, six of them gaining an advanced pass, meaning that they performed exceptionally well.

The successful students have set a high standard for the school, which we aim to maintain at all future gradings.

Keep up the good work  an congratulations to all who took part.

North Wales Championships Carl and Rebecca were in action again at the North Wales Championships on Sunday 12th February.  Rebecca again won bronze in the girls middle weight black belt sparring division.  She also narrowly missed out on a medal in the Patterns, coming in fourth position. Carl won second place in the boys black belt patterns division. Once again Congratulations to both Carl and Rebecca for their superb performances!
